8" x 11" in Watercolor

In the woods

I have been taking watercolor lesson for more than a year now. I will start posting some of the painting I did.
This one is from the photo I took while vacationing in Mazama in east slope of  north Cascades of Washington. The log cabin we stayed in is in the woods where you can smell the fresh pine in the air.

Ths is paradise

Cat Austin has been with us for sixteen years and his heart has finally give in. We bid him goodbye yesterday while he was resting comfortably with my arm around him.
I painted this on a watercolor paper with 2 layers of gesso. This painting is a memory for Austin.

The 'self Portrait' painting I posted in February won the 1st place in watercolor category in AAIE 50th annual Jury Show early this month. This is a huge lifting experience. I appreciated all the support I have been received.

Chalk Creek, Colorado

The scene is the rushing water of Chalk Creek near Salida in west Colorado.  We lived in Colorado for 12 years. In year 2011 we went back to attend a wedding at Mt. Princeton Hot Spring Resort. The hot spring pools located in the midst of the rushing water.

Floral Study III

At our UUGAS weekly meet, my friend Martha brought a bunch of huge Dahlias for us to paint. I have never seen anything like that, bold and beautiful. This is what I came up with that evening.

UUGAS stands for" Upper Underground Artists ". We are a group of artists meet every week at Martha's attic room creating our own art piece.

Blue Marlin

This is the last piece of the commission painting. After I finished this painting, I think sometime I'd like to go to Hawaii to watch a live blue marlin. Maybe just watching from the pier because I have a real bad case of sea sickness.

Red Hibiscus

This is the third of the commission painting. The request is to put a red, a pink, a yellow and a white Hibiscus all in one painting. It took me some time to design how to achieve that. I come up with this with a little twist.

Ladies Day

This is my recent painting at Hanna Adler's workshop. I have always admired her figure painting, so I choose to do this multiple figures scene. In the process I had many happy moments and grieves. But in the end it turned out good on my third try.
